Jack Attack 2024

Jack Attack started at Perth & Tattersalls Bowling & Recreation club on Wednesday 7th February 2024 with an enthusiastic group of 22 players ready for fun and excitement.

The inaugural competition had six teams hit the rinks all eager and dertermined to reign supreme. The names of the teams in the competition are Allsorts, Dingos, Dream Team, Poms & Cons, Royal Family & Wrong Bias.

There was a slow start as the players gained an understanding of the rules. Supporting advice was freely being offered from Ray and Rupert, as well as from the experienced players in each team.

Overall outstanding skill was displayed by all teams resulting in great bowls, with random moments of glory for individual players with some accurate (or lucky) driving!! Occasionally some very fortunate ‘rubs’ to win the end.

The competition was tight for Week 1 with four teams having to play a tie breaker to decide the overall winner of their individual games.

Week 2 – determination was in the air and even with game day being St Valentines Day, we sensed another St Valentine’s Day massacre may eventuate. All players were keen to improve their performance from Week 1. royals and Dingoes stepped up their game on their challenger teams with all Royals and Dingo players walking onto the greens with team shirts looking focused. The ‘top of the table clash’ between Allsorts and Wrong Bias was close with Wrong Bias winning the 2nd set and taking the overall game with 4 points. Dingoes and Poms & cons played a tie breaker for the 2nd set being equal on a 5 points draw. Dingos’ determination saw them gain the 1 point from winning the set tie-break but Poms & cons won the overall on set points to clinch the 2 extra game points. Overall series standing after Week 2, sees Wrong Bias on top with total game points of 8 ahead of Allsorts also on 8 gam points, separated by set points margin of 6. In 3rd place on 6 gam points, again separated by margin, is Poms & Cons. Also on 6 points are Dingoes & Dream Team with the Royals on 2 game points.

Week 3 presented new opportunities for all tams to display their skills and abilities. Dingoes pushed Wrong Bias in both sets to only falter by 1 point in each set. Dingoes determination in the 2nd set rewarded them with their Powerplay in their last end to win 8 points – great effort! Well done to Wrong Bias. Royal Family bravely took on Allsorts with the first set won convincingly by Allsorts. In the 2nd set Royal Family fought hard and grabbed the points in Allsorts’ Powerplay end but this unfortunately did not stop Allsorts from winning the 2nd set as well. Week 3 winner was Allsorts with 6 gam points and a winning game margin of 21 points and the runner up was Poms & cons with 6 game points and a winning game margin of 14 points.
